Fine Art Portrait Studio / Every portrait carries a story. For Colorado-based contemporary fine artist Michael Thomas, capturing that story requires an uncompromising commitment to high-contrast oil realism and a deep reverence for the human spirit. Following his proud service as a veteran and a dedicated 30-year creative corporate career, a sudden, near-death medical crisis and a defining path into total sobriety permanently altered his trajectory. Now living with liver disease for the past five years, Michael recognized that life was far too short to spend behind a corporate desk—prompting him to leave the corporate layout behind to travel, paint, meet amazing people, and give back in his own unique way. Currently spending a temporary season in Savannah, Georgia, to treasure invaluable time alongside his son, Michael is preparing to return West to fulfill his lifelong dream of living and painting in his native mountain landscapes. Specializing in large-scale portraits, he treats icons like legends and personal histories like heirlooms. His signature style thrives on capturing the raw expression and genuine character of legends, icons, and personal legacies. By fusing intense, dramatic shadow thresholds with a refined appreciation for human warmth, Michael creates museum-quality fine art that doesn’t just capture a likeness, but mirrors the raw, unbreakable strength of the human journey.
